National Research Council (NRC) seeking a Financial Analyst.
Your Challenge
Reporting to the Manager, Corporate Accounting, this position requires the incumbent to coordinate all aspects of the departmental reconciliation activity, ensure that internal controls are followed in the provision of access to the NRC financial system (Sigma); to provide advice and expertise to NRC finance officers and managers on all reconciliation activities in support of the NRC mandatory financial entries to the Public Accounts of Canada and the preparation of the NRC audited financial statements, as well as to research and prepare Sigma downloads for the audit requirements of the Office of the Auditor General. In addition, he/she is responsible for conducting various financial audits and analyses (e.g. Journal Vouchers; petty cash; etc.) to ensure compliance with policies, directives and procedures, and make recommendations for improvements; conduct research of accounting standards, best practices and central agency requirements, and contribute to the development of corporate accounting policies.
Screening Criteria
Applicants must demonstrate within the content of their application that they meet the following screening criteria in order to be given further consideration as candidates:
Education
A university certificate or the successful completion of two years in a post-secondary program with specialization in accounting, finance, business administration, commerce or economics; or possession of a Government of Canada Financial Management Certificate.
Experience
Recent and basic experience in financial management and accounting
Basic experience analyzing and interpreting financial information.
Basic experience analyzing, developing business processes, procedures and policies.
Basic experience using MS Excel to manipulate data and tables.
Basic experience with SAP or another accounting system would be an asset.
Salary: $48,430 to $67,937
