The School of Politics and International Relations is seeking to appoint Communications and Marketing Officer.
The post holder will be responsible to the Administrative Director for managing the broad range of the School's marketing and communications activity amongst external and internal constituencies. This will be in close liaison with the colleagues from the University's marketing and communications departments, and academic and administrative colleagues across the School. Key initiatives include the ongoing re-development of the School's web presence, and its integration with a range of social media and text-based materials, ways and means of managing communications with current and future cohorts of students, organisation of a range of student recruitment events, and pursuit of a number of enterprise-type and developments for the purposes of engaging respective communities of practice and building profile. This will be in line with the School's agreed development strategy and academic plan.
Applicants will be expected to hold an undergraduate degree, have recent and/or relevant knowledge of marketing and communications relating to recruitment, and in support of academic delivery in UK higher education, and to have a proven record of managing a complex administrative workload, preferably in an academic environment. Applicants must be able to demonstrate highly developed interpersonal skills, including influencing and negotiating skills, will be expected, as will the ability to communicate complex matters, or proposals for innovation, with clarity, both orally and in writing, and through presentation. Activities are expected to be conducted in a professional, business like, collegial and transparent manner, and the successful candidate must be sympathetic to the aims of the academic enterprise as well as the demands facing academic staff and students in contemporary higher education.
The post is full time starting from 1 September 2011 or as soon as possible thereafter. Starting salary will be in the range £30,350 - £35,674 per annum inclusive of London Allowance. Benefits include 30 days annual leave, final salary pension scheme and interest-free season ticket loan.
