This position is located in the Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA), Department of Labour. MSHA's mission is to protect the safety and health of miners in the nation to determine its compliance with federal standards for safety and health through inspections and investigations and working with the mining industry , work, and the states to improve training programs aimed at preventing accidents and occupationally caused diseases.
REQUIREMENTS:
U.S. citizenship.
Requires a probationary period if the requirement was not met.
Appointment to this position may require a background investigation.
Requires a valid driver's license.
Subject to occasional travel.
Requires a medical examination.
QUALIFICATIONS:
In addition to the basic requirement, one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next level or lower grade to the federal government. The specialized experience is experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. Qualifying specialized experience for this position is a professional engineering work that demonstrates a thorough investigation, a thorough understanding of concepts, principles and practices of engineering in the mining industry, including knowledge of the concepts of rock mechanics and methods of experimental stress analysis, underground mining equipment and a complete knowledge of longwall mining as practiced in the United States.
Salary: $39,541.00 - $91,182.00 /year
