Vocational Development Specialist-Forest Service

This position is located on a Forest Service Job Corps Civilian Conservation Center. The purpose of the position is to coordinate the program of preparation for career employment links student body with the business community, regional programs for employment and the state, local school systems and the across the county, and federal government agencies, state and local. The owner evaluates the ability of students in career transition, dates of completion of technical training and educational goals and job skills. Conducts assessments of the labor market to identify companies and industries that should be targeted to participate in the Job Corps Center. This includes the development of jobs and investment, the selection offers a career center, developing programs and relationships that support the Job Corps. Statistics on the incumbent coordinates the placement of students, the average salary, training and monitoring of the match after leaving Job Corps. Prepares reports of work-based learning that checks the work sites, working arrangements, and student progress. Provides resources and encourages students unemployed to seek employment. Holder analysis skills needs and the work required to estimate the probability of success that students have to complete the program. Provides advice and assistance to solve the problems of education or training.Works with employers, teachers, career technical education, university teachers and staff to ensure that independent living training for students is relevant to the job market. Serves as a liaison between the functions of education agency and the community. Maintains contacts with state, local and professional education associations.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: 
Specialized experience: One (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least GS-7. The specialized experience is experience that equipped the applicant with the knowledge, skills and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position. Examples include: (1) work that required obtaining and applying occupational information for people with disabilities who have provided an understanding of the interrelationships involved in professional and specialized skills in counseling to motivate and to encourage people. (2) Experience has shown that knowledge of vocational rehabilitation problems characteristic of disabled or disadvantaged, including familiarity with adult education and training resources, and the ability to recognize problems. (3) Experience in vocational guidance or teaching in programs for disadvantaged and placement programs for people with disabilities.


Salary: $47,448.00 - $61,678.00 /year
