IVD Communications Campaign Consultant

The Communications Unit, which is managing this consultation, communication UNV takes on the value of volunteerism for peace and development and the contribution of UNV and the UN. It focuses on clear messages and effective in increasing the visibility and impact of UNV. The unit documents the status of volunteerism and its contribution to development, raising awareness of volunteerism and its contribution to development among stakeholders UNV and encourages support of volunteerism for development, including the observation of International Day of Volunteers (IVD). The Communications Unit is responsible for the celebration of IVD 2011 UNV and support national activities, across the globe, marking IVD. It also produces and promotes materials (websites, annual reports, videos, etc.) to acknowledge the support of UNV to volunteer for development and its contribution to development and programming partners.

Under the general supervision of the project leader for the 2011 DIV campaign with the theme provisional Questions volunteering, Consultant DIV communication campaign is responsible for developing and implementing a campaign to engage staff UNV United Nations Volunteers (both current and former), and partners in 2011 marking DIV. On December 5, 2011 VNU will celebrate International Volunteer Day with a focus on: 

1. The 10th anniversary of the International Year of Volunteers (IYV +10):

The year 2011 marks the 10th anniversary of the International Year of Volunteers (IYV +10). Possibility exists for activities throughout the year that will showcase the diversity, breadth and depth of volunteerism around the world. The four themes or pillars of IYV 10 are: the recognition, facilitation (institutional measures such as supporting legislation that would make possible the expression of volunteers), networking and promotion (active encouragement to all to participate inclusively). 10 AIV is on partnerships and promoting volunteerism. Campaign materials and messages should commit VNU (staff and volunteers) in the main messages of IYV +10.

2. The state of the world volunteering Report (SWVR): 

UNV is the first report of the UN on volunteering by highlighting the current state of play in volunteering today. The report will be launched December 5, 2011.

The campaign to invite DIV UNV staff and UNV United Nations Volunteers to express why and how the issues of volunteerism. DIV 2011 should be a "seamless" integration of the AIV and SWVR 10. The Consultant DIV communication campaign will design and implement a campaign in vitro diagnostics, in order to encourage everyone in the UNV and the world to take an active role in 2011 DIV. The Consultant DIV communication campaign operates through consultative structures ensuring UNV campaign and support materials are in place in a timely and efficient manner and in doing regular updates for staff and UNV United Nations Volunteers .

Required Skills and Education Experience: 

Advanced university degree in journalism, communication, social science or related disciplines. Experience: Experience in the communication campaign, experience and / or advocacy campaigns and the use of social media (Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Flickr etc.) in previous campaigns, professional editing and / or video amateur Previous work experience using active video messaging in advertising campaigns is an asset.
