The Evaluation Group of the United Nations (UNEG) was established in January 1984 (originally under the name of the Interagency Working Group (IWG) on the assessment). Its purpose was to provide a forum for the discussion of evaluation issues within the UN system and to promote the simplification and harmonization of practices of evaluation reports between UNDP and the implementing agencies. Originally operating as an informal group where the heads of offices of the UN assessment could deliberate on issues relevant evaluation, the group has changed over the last six years with the introduction of working groups set in place to produce tangible results for the use of professional evaluation in the UN.
Duties and Responsibilities
Functions / Key Results Expected Under the general direction of the President and the direct supervision of the Executive Coordinator of United Nations Development Group, the program specialist for the United Nations Development Group should provide support to UNEG through the following main tasks : Support the implementation of activities planned by UNEG as a whole and the respective Task Forces. Coordinate with the co - chairmen and members of UNEG Forces working on the development, implementation and dissemination of their annual work plans.
Provide support services to the President and Executive Coordinator UNEG. Coordinate meetings UNEG Coordinating Committee and preparation of progress reports. Draft Annual Report of the technical and financial UNEG Secretariat.
Required Skills and Education
Advanced degree or equivalent experience in economics, social sciences, international relations, political science or related field. Experience 5 years of relevant experience at national or international level in providing management advisory services, hands-on experience in the design, monitoring and evaluation of development projects. Knowledge of the UN and the UNEG would be an advantage. Experience using computers and office software, experience in handling web based management systems.
