The United Nations University (UNU) is an international community of scholars engaged in research, postgraduate training and dissemination of knowledge in the goals and principles of the United Nations Charterof. The mission of UNU is to contribute, through research and capacity building, toefforts to resolve pressing global problems that are the concern of the United Nations and its Member States. The main objectives are to serve an international community of scholars, a bridge between the United Nationsand, the international academic community, and as a think-tank for the UN system, contributing tocapacity construction, particularly in countries development and to serve as a platform for new and creative ideas
Responsibilities:
The investigator or principal investigator should be fully involved in academic activities of the UNU-IAS in the field of environmental governance with a focus on biodiversity, including teaching in the program the new master of biodiversity . The incumbent is expected to spend a considerable amount of time incarrying research and monitoring of research fellows and doctoral students and graduate students atUNU-IAS. The fellow will be involved in other academic functions and consulting and financing theInstitute. The Fellow will report directly to the Director of UNU-IAS
Qualifications:
Ph.D. (No SDEA), preferably in social sciences / environmental or international environmentallaw / international relations, while holding a doctorate in natural sciences, who worked withinternational agreements or plans are also encouraged to apply ; To qualify as a researcher, at least 2 years of research experience after completion of the thesis is required. To qualify as a Senior Research Fellow, at least 6 years of researchexperience after completion of the PhD is required; demonstrated research experience in the field of biodiversity, international agreements and regimes, particularly their relations with the development and environmental issues;
A sound recording or risks for publication in the field of international agreements related to biodiversity internationalregimes governance; management skills of research, overseeing research and teaching experience are required; capacity for prepare proposals for funding; Fluency in English and knowledge of other UN official languages are desired; Team player with strong interpersonal skills demonstrated by the ability to work in a multi -cultural, multi-ethnic environment with sensitivity and respect for diversity
