VEGA seeks an experienced professional for the position of Director of Communications and Marketing, responsible for managing and developing effective communication, marketing and fundraising plan to support the commercial development of VEGA. The position will report to the Executive Director and CEO and work regularly with the business development and team management program. In addition to a proven marketing, fundraising and effectively manage multiple channels of communication, priorities and deadlines, the successful candidate will have an appreciation for the international development work and dedication of our members team's mission, vision and values of VEGA.
JOB DUTIES:
Build and maintain communication capacity of VEGA contribute to the development and evaluation of the communication strategy of VEGA, and implement change as necessary based on the results of this evaluation. Lead the development and implementation of tools and external communications activities, including site, blog, social networking, press releases, video, and events to help its members and VEGA themselves more effectively market to donors, charities and private companies. Direct and coordinate with VEGA personnel to keep our site up to date and attractive to its various publics (members, general public, stakeholders). Provide direction towards improving the visibility of VEGA and publications on the web in terms of content, structure and design.
Preferred qualifications:
BA / S in marketing, communications, or in a relevant field required. Masters preferred. Demonstrated success and guiding the implementation of communications strategy and marketing objectives. 5-7 years communications / marketing experience with a strong emphasis on new media and Web communications, in whole or in part in a management position. Superior management skills: able to quickly identify and assign tasks for new activities, and maintain the overall objectives of the project. Excellent skills in written and verbal communication with experience in preparing short, concise, user-friendly information materials. Strong networking skills. Direct experience working in international development projects is highly desirable. Strong oral presentation and facilitation. Experience working with a content management system, Drupal and / or experience with Wordpress a big plus. Experience identifying and coordinating with suppliers on the Web management, editing, printing and other relevant services. Significant experience in using social media (Twitter, Facebook) to develop and manage communities.Advanced knowledge of MS Office (especially Word and PowerPoint) Fluency in Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign, Print and Web graphic design experience and experience of basic HTML a plus. Ability to work under pressure and tight deadlines with accuracy, professionalism and a sense of humor. Excellent interpersonal skills and a solid team player. Self-directed and able to work with minimal supervision. Able to work in a multi-cultural and multi-disciplinary. Previous work in a non-profit organization is a plus.
