Statistics and Monitoring Specialist UNICEF

The main function of this position is to improve the relevance, quality, availability and use of data and contextual information on women and children through UNICEF. The work focuses on the areas highlighted by the MTSP as the protection of education, children, health, nutrition, and this post gives special importance to education. This is done in collaboration with major institutional partners, national governments and other organizations with expertise in these areas.

Qualification: 
Advanced university degree in a social science with statistics, advanced training, preferably a higher degree in statistics, or an area with advanced statistics, data manipulation and analysis. At least eight years of experience at national and international levels in social / health / education statistics, surveys, data analysis and other areas of applied statistics, information systems and interpretation data and their use in areas of concern to UNICEF, such as education and health. Professional technical expertise in demography, statistics, or epidemiological analysis. Of well-developed computer skills, including mastery of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Power Point), databases (Access, and statistical analysis software (SPSS, STATA). Expertise in analyzing data survey of households, the data obtained from population censuses and administrative records.

Expected key results: 
collection and analysis: Act as focal point for monitoring the main UNICEF global, regional and national coverage of education and other relevant indicators, in collaboration with UNESCO and other international partners. Perform analysis and interpretation of relevant data to assess the situation of women and children, including contributions to UNICEF's flagship publications, and other reports, and preparation of journal articles by peers. Update and maintain the UNICEF global databases. Represent UNICEF in meetings and other international forums.

Skills: 
Communicate effectively to diverse audiences, including in formal public speaking. Sets high standards for quality of work and regularly carries out the project objectives. Able to work effectively in a multi-cultural environment. should have good leadership and supervisory skills, coordinating group activities, ensuring that the roles within the team are clear. Analysis and potentially conflicting integrates digital, and other verbal data from a number of sources. Reflected in the strategic plans and objectives. Shows and share detailed technical knowledge and expertise.
