Climate change and disaster risk reduction (CC / DRR) Advisor will provide technical assistance in the design, monitoring and evaluation of the ARC program, assisting program staff in understanding how the Climate change will affect the structure, capacity and effectiveness of Red Cross programs. This is a post regular full-time based in Washington, DC. This position will report to the Disaster Preparedness Senior Advisor to the Unit program integration, response and international programs. Specific responsibilities include: • Provide technical assistance to all programs of the American Red Cross, and support the activities of the Federation to ensure that programs and services consider adaptations to climate change in their design and to incorporate the latest information from climate change to support more resilient communities. • Develop or contribute to the review of tools, guidelines and methodologies related to the implementation of adaptation activities in the programs. • Provide technical advice on advocacy and public education, with special emphasis on vulnerability analysis and risk communication climate variability at the community level.
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in environmental science relevant, such as agriculture or is required and the degree of control preferred. A minimum of five years of relevant experience in disaster preparedness, including relevant experience in developing countries. Experience in conducting and / or supervising needs assessments and surveys, data analysis, project design, and evaluation required, preferably for the programs of relief and development. Experience in project management required. Excellent English communication skills verbal and written required.
