In his duties, the incumbent is responsible for all aspects of the protocol of events involving the Secretary General and the Deputy Secretary-General, at summits and conferences, both at headquarters and abroad, including visits to Headquarters Heads of state and government, foreign ministers and other high-level dignitaries for attending regular and special sessions of the General Assembly and other organs. Acts as focal point for activities of the various departments involved in the preparation of these visits, determines the protocol and logistics requirements of delegations, and coordinates, supervises and participates in events as required. Host of dignitaries at the airport and at Headquarters, and escorts in meetings. During the visits of the Secretary General complex overseas, such as regional summits or other multilateral conferences, acts as a focal point for bilateral meetings and finalized with the host authorities all provisions related to the program of the Secretary General. Plans and organizes official luncheons, dinners and other social functions organized by the Secretary-General at Headquarters, the official residence, or other locations as required.Close contact with the Permanent Missions of Member States concerning accreditation and liaison requirements. Organizes the presentation of credentials by the newly appointed Permanent Representatives, the memories of the procedures for submission and escorts throughout the ceremony. Develop rules and procedures of the protocol. Advise the Secretariat, specialized agencies and institutions and officials of the host country. Recommends that Member States on the privileges and immunities, in order of precedence, the flag of the regulation, registration and accreditation of members of the delegation of new and mediation between permanent missions and the host country. Is responsible for day to day operations of the Protocol and Liaison, and supervision of its staff, including on issues such as outgoing correspondence and publications. Regular contact with local officials, including the Office of the Mayor of New York, the Office of the Governor of New York, the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, U.S. Customs and airport management in the region. Cultivate broad social, cultural, political contacts and business in the host country and the Member States.
