Duties The Department of the Attorney General to serve the people of Australia by providing essential expert support to the government in maintaining and improving the Australian system of law and justice and its national security and emergency management systems . Its mission is to help the Government achieve a just and safe society. AGD is the key policy and coordination of the Attorney General's portfolio and works closely with a wide range of judicial, legal sector and the public.
As Assistant Secretary, Civil Justice and Legal Services Group, will head a team responsible for providing policy and expert advice on a wide range of issues including: • Human rights and humanitarian law • administrative law, litigation and judicial administration • International law, including international trade, environment and treaties • Legal Aid and Family Relationships Services • Family and Marriage Law • Censorship native title and you can also manage the quality assurance of the provision of legal services to the Community and provide advisory services and writing. You will provide high-level advice to the Attorney General and Minister, the Secretary and other key leaders and to contribute to the overall strategic direction of the department.
