Responsibilities Under the supervision of the Director / Deputy Director of the Division, the section chief is responsible for:-Provides guidance to the Director / Deputy Director of the Division on developing strategies and managing the implementation of overall strategies and policies and procedures within and inter-divisional/departmental. -Plans, organizes, manages and oversees the management of the activities of the Section to ensure that the work programs of substance and programmed activities are carried out in a timely fashion, coordinating diverse projects in the section, and in conjunction with other UN agencies United Nations System, donors and agencies, as appropriate.

Education Advanced university degree (Masters or equivalent) in business or public administration, finance, accounting, law or related field. A bachelor's degree in combination with qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of advanced university degree. Experience Minimum 10 years of experience at levels relevant in humanitarian affairs, emergency management crisis / emergency, rehabilitation, development or related fields, including several years in a field mission is necessary. Several years of work experience at a senior level to manage a team / section in the field is required. Demonstrated negotiation necessary. English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For this position excellent English (written and verbal skills) is necessary. Knowledge of another official UN language, particularly French, is an advantage. Evaluation Methodology Evaluation of qualified candidates may include an assessment of the merits, which may be followed by a competency based interview.
