Responsibilities The incumbent will perform the following tasks: 1. for the coordination and representation: Representing the UNODC in the UN headquarters in New York, including at inter-governmental meetings and inter-agency, consult with headquarters in New York offices and organizations, including other between the Security Council, the Economic and Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) and the General Assembly of the secretariats of the committees on the programs and activities to help ensure effective coordination and consideration of the practices of UNODC in policies of the UN wide; Maintain regular contact with the permanent missions key to promote the program of work of UNODC, and with regard to preparations for intergovernmental meetings and conferences; Set up meetings and prepare background papers on specific issues, facilitate and promote contacts with the major organs and officials, in conjunction with the visit of the Executive Director of UNODC, the project notes, letters and statements to the signature / delivery Representative of the New York office, assisting the Representative of the Office of Human Resource Management and Financial Liaison Office New York;

Education Advanced university degree (Masters or equivalent) in law, criminal justice, international relations or related fields. A bachelor's degree in similar fields in combination with qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of advanced university degree. Work Experience At least seven years of experience in the management of progressively responsible program or a related field in a large organization, the national civil service or international organization is necessary. Several years of experience in criminal justice or related field is required. Experience working within the UN system is desirable. Field experience in a developing country is an asset. English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For the post advertised, fluency in English, proficiency in oral and written information is required. Knowledge of another official UN language is an asset.
