Solicitor - Legal & Technical Services

The Legal and Technical Services business unit (LTS) of Inland Revenue provides legal and technical advice to internal clients to ensure the consistent application of the law and protection of the integrity of the tax system.

We are looking to appoint a solicitor with experience in litigation (ideally in both the civil and criminal jurisdictions) as well as an aptitude to undertake complex legal work.

In this role, you will maintain a strong customer focus amongst a team of taxation and legal experts, contribute significantly to the delivery of LTS outcomes and network accordingly.

Working with a team of solicitors and/or technical advisors you will deliver high quality legal and technical advice and support on matters relating to New Zealand's taxpayers.

You have knowledge and understanding of the principles and practices underlying the New Zealand tax system and legislation, and ideally some tax litigation experience. You are confident to work autonomously and have excellent relationship management and conflict resolution skills. You can be counted on to meet deadlines, and produce work of the highest quality. Last but certainly not the least, you are customer service focused and enjoy finding practical solutions to difficult problems.
