This position is located in the Minerals Resources Branch in the Southeastern States Field Office in Jackson, Mississippi. The purpose of this position is to perform engineering review of oil and gas industry proposals for development of Federal and Indian land and to serve as the lead for the Oil & Gas Inspection Team. The incumbent coordinates and reviews the team's inspection of all phases of oil & gas drilling, the team's work for on-site inspections of oil and gas production operations and facilities including meter proving and calibrations. The incumbent will review Applications for Permit to Drill (APD) and other related applications to ensure compliance with engineering standards and regulatory provisions. Included are well casing design, cemeting programs, blow-out prevention equipment, protection of ground water, and public health and safety. The selectee will review industry proposals for installation of measurement devices, shut-in wells, gas flaring, off-lease measurement, commingling, disposal of produced water and abandonment of drilling and depleted wells.
Salary: $68,809.00 - $89,450.00 /year
